Considering humanity's ability to continue to coexist with the Earth from an "engineering" perspective

Now more than ever, citizens are demanding that their societies practice global environmental conservation and social development in harmony with the Earth. Students will learn to view the Earth as a system and consider how to build a future where humanity can coexist with it, while taking an "engineering" perspective. Together, we will consider the development of geothermal, wind, solar and other clean natural energy, as well as new energy systems such as hydrogen energy, and imagine a new concept of human society, focusing on the keywords of "environment" and "energy" in the context of the Earth.

Finding the best system for both the Earth and humanity

To build a society in harmony with the global environment, we need to understand the various subsystems that make up the Earth. This course will foster an understanding of the Earth and its organisms and ecosystems, before considering how to incorporate the wisdom of nature into our technology. Students will also examine how to develop systems that use the Earth's resources in an environmentally friendly way and also offer comfort for mankind, and cultivate a comprehensive skillset for thinking about the future of environmentally-conscious societies and energy.
